Our History:
Serving the greater Charlotte region (NC), the
Centralina Economic Development Commission (CEDC) organized as a
public non-profit 501(c)(3) in 2005 to support the key
activities proposed in the Centralina Regional Comprehensive
Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) entitled
No Boundaries. The report outlines an approach to
regional growth and prosperity that builds on the region's
strengths, emphasizes key regional industry clusters, and
prioritizes economic development projects. The strategy
was unanimously endorsed by the Board of County Commissioners in
nine North Carolina counties (Anson, Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell,
Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, Stanly, Union) and by the City of
Charlotte.
The CEDC was
created by the Centralina
Council of Governments
(CCOG) which provides staff support to the organization.
Board Members are recommended by member governments and
partners throughout the region, and are appointed by the Board
of the Council of Governments.

Our Purpose:
The CEDC builds
collaborative partnerships to promote the growth of high
technology industry clusters and propel economic activity in our
region.
