Roundtable of the Carolinas
The Centralina Economic Development Commission,
in partnership with the Charlotte Chapter of the Council of Supply
Chain Management Professionals and other logistics and supply
chain organizations in the Carolinas, is pleased to announce the
formation of the Logistics & World Trade Roundtable of the
Carolinas.

Logistics
Industry Profile
Logistics is an industry with a wide set of skill
requirements, and therefore offers economic opportunities to a
wide range of individuals within our region. For the entire
industry, from truck drivers to management and engineers,
the ability to learn and adapt to new technology is essential. The
Centralina region currently ranks 23rd in the nation in number of
people employed in the logistics industry.

Regional
Logistics Network
The
Regional Logistics Network serves to provide networking
opportunities for industry members, strengthen ties between the
logistics industry, academia and workforce development, and
facilitate connections between public and private players in the
logistics sector. Logistics Network activities include:
 | Convene
regular events to provide networking and educational
opportunities for industry members |
 | Develop
a regional website to further networking and business
opportunities for the industry |
 |
Provide
speakers on topics of interest to the industry |
 |
Encourage
members of the industry to participate in the federal
procurement process |

CEDC
Logistics Committee
The
goal of the Logistics Committee is to support the positioning of
the Centralina region as a leader in transportation and logistics
and to promote sustainable economic growth within the industry. The Logistics Committee will:

Develop
Regional Logistics
Network and serve as link to CEDC Board and Municipal
Governments |
 | Provide
education about logistics and the needs of this rapidly
growing industry, including: workforce development, support
for entrepreneurial businesses, and research opportunities |
 |
Support
expansion of the Norfolk-Southern inter-modal facility at the
Charlotte-Douglas International Airport |
 |
Develop
outreach programs to minority groups within the region |
